The future of online radio is bright, and we believe there is a wealth of opportunity in this market segment for both traditional and new emerging online-only radio stations.
We have observed positive growth of online audiences across our online radio station clients and a shift in the consumption of Internet radio by mobile devices over the past 3 years.
With falling mobile data costs, increase in Wifi networks and increases in the ubiquity of Internet access within urban areas of South Africa, online radio is also becoming increasingly accessible to listeners.
The immediacy and detail of online radio listenership statistics provides radio stations with targeted advertising and monetization opportunities.
Our observation is that, year on year, there has been a substantial increase in listenership for most stations when measured against the "unique listener" metric from September 2018 to September 2019. This trajectory is set to continue with the vast majority of online stations seeing positive growth and the incorporation of exciting new technologies and the opportunities they represent.
